One week of classes and I am eager for more!

I am now on my second week with the studio and I am beginning to realise how much there is to the word ‘Yoga’.  The different classes and descriptions on the studios website give a good idea of the diversity of yoga, but before I came to a variety of classes, I was wondering if they would feel different and actually be different.  Can so many different classes be so different? After going to Hatha flow 1, Hatha flow 2, Detox flow, Gentle yoga, Power flow and Restorative I am amazed at the variety and scope of yoga and now I am beginning to see how this can become a complete lifestyle.  I still have more to try.  I had previously been practicing yoga while living on a beach in the Bahamas; my practice consisted of a sun salutation that I would do on the sand either at sunrise or sunset.  I really enjoyed this and felt rejuvenated afterwards, however now I feel I am really getting a complete background to what the whole thing is about.  I am enjoying being able to relate my own self taught practice to the teachings given at the studio and improve my awareness, concentration and my overall health at the same time.

The idea of detox yoga was something that I had read about, but not had a chance to try and this is one class that I have found to feel amazing.  This morning I woke up feeling genuinely rejuvenated and refreshed.  During class I am finding that I am becoming focused on myself and my own practice now, rather than trying to see how other people are doing it and this feels great.  The gentle reminders by the teacher to listen to your own breath and go with your own flow provides the focus I need.

This week I have noticed that those happy dandelions’ of last week are now in hiding from the fog and rain that to me feels like St John’s has been temporarily suspended in time, I wonder if the fog will clear soon?  I did notice on my walk to the studio, some of the dandelions’ that had managed to escape the lawnmower were now in seed, the heads proudly swaying in the wind ready to expand their army (It was quite dramatic with the phantom of the opera playing in my headphones, they even seemed to be dancing in time to it).
