The past few weeks have been a little crazy and very un yoga ish, since the new semester started, I have found myself filling up my diary and the to do is list getting longer. However, I have been quite rubbish as I have missed one important element from this and that is to find the time for me. I do believe that if you want to find time to do something, then you have to make the time; as Bobby put it, 'you have to find a balance'. This is true, did I get more out of staying in the office later? or did i get more out of walking down to the studio, rolling out my mat and giving myself the time to relax, breathe and calm my mind? I think the answer to this one is easy.
What is not easy however, is remembering this and doing it. Once I am there, at the studio, I feel wonderful, yesterday evening I went along to the Detox class and once I was in there, it was fabulous. But why then have I not made the time to come since the class I had 10 days ago? I do think that often in life, it is easy to say you are going to do something, and also that you even will do it, but this is far different from actually doing it. This is something that I can relate to and I know other friends whom have had the same problems, anyone have a gym membership but not gone? how about some running gear in the wardrobe unused? I think that finding balance is a goal that is not easy, but when it is there, then all of the other tasks become easier and are managed better. Coming away from the studio, I always work better and can concentrate more.
Often, new years resolutions are made, however i am going to make one now, a Fall resolution.
I will remember to make time for myself, time to sit quietly away from computers, cook good food, read a book that is not about my research, and enjoy yoga no matter how busy and full my diary gets. These balancing things are imperative to my overall health and without these, I don't think my research would be as good anyway!
for now though, there is a lovely blue sky this afternoon so I am going to go outside and enjoy it!
until next time, :)
I once purchased a month-unlimited yoga pass for $99. I went 3 times AND I left my yoga mat there. How's that for not making time for myself?!
